Without a track & field season this spring, were missing out on top distance runners from the Metro Detroit area run circles around the competition. If the season had not been canceled, who would have owned the track this spring in the mid-distance and distance events?
We are turning to the fans to decide. Who is your choice for the top female distance runner from Metro Detroit?

Abbey Carvey, Farmington
Junior
Carvey took on the 800 at full capacity last season for the first time and made quite a splash. She busted out a 2:14.92 at the Oakland County championships and also ran 2:16.87 earlier in the season. She also managed a PR of 5:14.91 in the 1600.
Audrey DaDamio, Birmingham Seaholm
Junior
Last spring, DaDamio recorded top-tier times in the 800 (2:16.00), 1600 (4:55.30) and 3200 (10:33.96). At the indoor state championships this spring, she ran 10:24.78 in the 3200 meter finals. In cross country, she was All-State and competed at the Foot Locker National Championship race.
Emily Esker, Livonia Franklin
Senior
She came up with some excellent 800 meter times as last spring wore on, winning regionals in 2:19.57 and then dropping her PR to 2:17.38 at the state championships.
Ellie Kendell, Royal Oak Shrine
Senior
Last spring, Kendell was the Division 4 champion in both the 1600 (5:11.93) and the 3200 (11:21.58). She had personal bests of 5:09.82 in the 1600 and 11:21:09 in the 3200. She also took All-State honors as the anchor of the Shrine 4x800 relay.
Lauren Kiley, Plymouth
Sophomore
One of the top freshman distance runners in the state last year, she competed at states in the 1600 and 3200. She had a 1600 PR of 5:03.77 while recording a 3200 PR of 11:01.21. She also ran 2:26.21 in the 800. She also ran 17:43.1 in cross country this last fall.
Cora Kolodge, New Baltimore Anchor Bay
Sophomore
She was a region champion in the 800 (2:22.34 PR), a MAC White, Macomb County champ and state qualifier in the 1600 (5:08.15 PR), while also claiming a region and county title in the 3200 (11:39.6 PR). She also anchored the state-qualifying Anchor Bay 4x800 relay.
Madelyn Malczewski, Romeo
Senior
With a PR of 10:56.13 in the 3200, Malczewski was set to return as one of the state's top runners at that distance. She ran that time to win a region title last spring while also clocking a personal best of 5:08.39 in the 1600. She was also All-State in cross country this last fall (18:32.3).
Yasmine Mansi, Northville
Junior
She was All-State in the 1600 last year with a time of 4:54.61. She also competed in the 3200 state finals and clocked a time of 10:57.80. During the indoor season this winter, she also logged a 2:16.67 in the 800. She was also All-State in cross country this last fall.
Olivia Millen, Salem
Junior
She was a state qualifier in the 800 and had a PR of 2:20.32. She also was a region champion and state competitor in the 1600 with a PR of 5:03.11. She also qualified for the cross country state championships this last fall.
Sophie Novak, Lake Orion
Junior
She had a big sophomore season, winning the OAA Red-White title in the 800 (2:19.80), winning the Oakland County 800 championship (2:12.76) and finishing All-State (2:13.35). She also won the 1600 at the OAA Red-White (4:58.42), region (4:49.17) and Oakland County (4:51.43) championships. She also took third in the 1600 at the state championships with a time of 4:50.56.
Jessica Schamanek
Senior
Last year, Schamanek was able to record a time of 5:09.46 in the 1600 in order to qualify for states. She also ran 2:25 in the 800 and 11:31.40 in the 3200.
Maryam Sheena, Walled Lake Western
Senior
She was a state qualifier in the 3200 with a PR of 10:52.92. She also had a PR of 5:02.44 in the 1600 and a PR of 2:22.59 in the 800. She was also 10th at the D1 cross country championships (18:14.6).
