For the tenth year, The Leaf-Chronicle Readers Choice Contest will recognize Clarksville's favorites in more than 100 categories, from doughnut shops to dentists, from pro sports teams to new car dealerships.
Readers Choice, which began in 2010, is a fully free and fully local contest that allows online voters to select winners in various categories.
It includes the coveted Favorite Social Service Agency award, which recognizes Clarksville's top nonprofit organizations. Previous winners include:
- 2012: Montgomery County Friends of the Shelter
- 2013: Manna Cafe Ministries
- 2014: Buddy Ball Special Needs Athletic League
- 2015: L.E.A.P.
- 2016: Urban Ministries SafeHouse
- 2017: Imagination Library
- 2018: YAIPaks
- 2019: Manna Cafe Ministries (second win)
The charitable organization chosen by readers will benefit from a community support initiative from The Leaf-Chronicle. Agencies are ineligible to win twice in five years; earlier winners are back on the table.
How it works
The contest has two stages: nominations and then voting.
Nominations: Starting today, you can go online to TheLeafChronicle.com and nominate your favorites in dozens of categories. If your favorite is already there, you don't need to do anything — the nomination is in. If you don't see your favorite listed, just add it to the list. (Please do not repeat a nomination for someone already listed.) Nominations continue through Sunday, May 31, and no new nominations can be accepted after that.
Voting: Voting begins the next day, Monday, June 1, and continues through Saturday, June 30. This is the part where you can vote as often as you want and in as many categories as you want. Online voting has proven popular, drawing up to to 250,000 votes each year.
The winners and finalists will be announced in early August.
