Great American Think-Off to debate responsibility vs. choice - Park Rapids Enterprise

bentangos.blogspot.com

The New York Mills Regional Cultural Center is hosting a discussion of the 29th annual Great American Think-Off question: “Which should be more important: personal choice or social responsibility?”

Everyone has experienced having to navigate that balance. The question of which should be more important was put forward by the Think-Off’s guiding committee, assisted by a public vote. It is intended to challenge and inspire thinkers from all walks of life.

The event, held each year in New York Mills, is a philosophical essay and debate competition, free to enter and open to all. In its nearly 30-year history, it has received thousands of entries from all 50 states and several international countries.

People of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to submit an essay, no more than 750 words long, answering this question by April 1. There is no fee to enter.

Four finalists will be announced May 1 and each will receive $500 plus travel expenses, along with a chance to win the title of “America’s Greatest Thinker” at the annual debate held June 11 in New York Mills.

For more details, visit think-off.org or call the cultural center at 218-385-3339.
