Boy Band Review took the stage Saturday for the first concert at the Calumet Theatre since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Marketing Director Bethany Jones says that the Chicago group chose the perfect date to visit the Copper Country. They crooned 90’s pop tunes from New Kids on the Block, N*Sync, and the Backstreet Boys on National Daughters Day. Jones says that many groups in attendance involved at least two, and in some cases three, generations from the same family bonding over the up-tempo performance.

The group gave fans their money’s worth, returning to the stage for several encores and playing longer than scheduled. Jones says a touching moment at the end of the night is what she will remember most. The group dedicated a song to the family of Marlene Beaudoin, who died recently in a car crash. She left behind 10 children. Jones says Beaudoin would have been in attendance Saturday, and the gesture was not lost on her family.

Jones hopes that the return of concerts to the venue will ease some of the tensions that have cropped up between the nonprofit Calumet Theatre Company, which operates the venue, and the Village of Calumet, who owns the building. The next scheduled concert is November 5th with country star Joe Nichols.
