I was reading an email from one of my Project instructors and it talked about discipline and the choices we make daily.

Then, I concluded that every choice we make either has a positive outcome or a negative consequence.

We are faced with making choices and decisions from the time we wake up, and every one we make could take us down a different path.

Let’s go over a few and the different outcomes.

When we wake up, we have 2 choices, either jump out of bed and begin our day, or hit the snooze button a few times and get a few extra z’s.

When we jump up, it gives us time to accomplish things like getting to the gym, prepping lunch and healthy snacks for the day and checking a few tasks off our “to do” list. It enables us to start the day with a win and a sense of accomplishment.

It also sets us up for success the rest of the day, by being prepared, and eliminating stressful situations.

You will have time for a healthy breakfast, you will get to work on time, and be prepared to tackle your day.

If you went to the gym, you would feel good about yourself knowing you started the day with a win under your belt.

On the flip side, if you roll over and hit snooze, you are setting yourself up for unfavorable consequences. First and foremost, you will waste time (9 minutes at a time) trying to get a little more restful sleep, which won’t happen because you lay there anticipating the alarm to go off again. Then when it does, you hit it again. Now you have wasted 18 minutes of time that could have been used more productively.

You jump up anxiously and rush to get ready for your day.

You missed the window to get to the gym, and you barely have enough time to make a cup of coffee, so you head to a local coffee shop or convenience store.

You are hungry, so you grab some packaged shit or a boxed, mass-produced sandwich, and a cup of brown water they consider coffee. There are people in line, so you are held up even longer, and you need to get to work. Now you are stressed, and you haven’t even gotten to work.

You start your day with a few losses, and you are stressed, anxious, and late for work. Now you are mad at yourself because you put yourself in a bad position and broke a promise to yourself that you made when you set the alarm the night before.

Not a great choice to hit the snooze button, when you have things to do, and you want to have a productive day.

Many people put themselves in this position every day. It’s like setting up dominos. When you hit the snooze button, you hit the first domino, and the rest of your day becomes a stressful disaster, when you could have saved yourself by just getting up 20 minutes earlier.

You can choose to eat an apple or shove a cupcake in your face for your afternoon snack.

When I hear someone say “I’m trying” to eat better, it drives me crazy. What exactly does that mean? Trying?

You are either eating better, or you are not. Trying means you are thinking about it, and know that you should be eating better, but you keep making poor choices.

We all need to eat on a regular basis, and there are many options to choose from. Good food is just as readily available as garbage food, so you have a choice as to what you eat. If you are truly health-conscious and want to get the desired result, you will choose wisely, if you aren’t, you won’t.

EVERYONE knows that fresh food, vegetables, and fruit are the better options, yet sometimes we choose differently. I know there are instances that people eat for emotional reasons, and I also know that there are a lot of eating disorders, and I respect that, however that isn’t the case with most.

For most, it’s a matter of prioritizing, preparation and making the right choices. We all have the power of choice when it comes to eating the right food, and it starts when you enter the market. If you choose processed, packaged food, you will eat that. If you fill your carriage with quality food, you will eat that. Once again, the choice is yours.

You choose Providence Fit Body Boot Camp and get results.

I hear it every day….I won’t work out like this on my own. Members confess this to our coaches daily, and we say the same thing, “Very few people do”, and that’s why we are the professionals in our industry.

Most people know they need to work out and it is beneficial to their health, however many don’t know what is best for them to get results and avoid injuries. We wouldn’t know how to do your job, and we don’t expect you to know ours.

That’s why it is a smart choice to get guidance, motivation, and accountability from trained professionals with a proven track record, as opposed to trying to do it alone and wasting time by not getting the desired result you envisioned for yourself.

When I am doing a sales consult, and I get objections, it’s not because the person doubts our ability to transform their health and fitness, it’s because they are chasing not to make the commitment to themselves. It’s not the money factor, because our price is less than most people’s cable and cell phone bill, and it’s doubtful that if you don’t invest in our fitness program, you will be putting the cash in a savings account.

It’s all about your choice to invest in yourself and get great results or go to a cheaper facility and waste time.

When members leave for various reasons and come back, it is a testament that we provide an experience and give them results they can’t find anywhere else.

You can choose to stay up late binge-watching Netflix or go to bed to make sure you get 7-8 hours of sleep.

This is where the cycle starts. Your day starts here and comes full circle back to this point. If you stay up late and watch negative TV such as the news or Law and Order reruns, it resonates in your subconscious mind. Not only does it shorten the time you spend in bed but alters the quality of your sleep.

Again, it’s all about us making the right choice, and deciding which path to take. Will you benefit more from watching Hank Voigt crack some skulls on Chicago P.D. or turning off the tv and getting the required sleep so you can have a productive day without the impulse to hit the snooze button. I think the answer is obvious, however, it’s up to us to show discipline and make the right choice.

I know I can be black and white in some instances, and some people consider me harsh, however, the quicker we lose the victim mentality, and realize that a majority of what happens to us is due to the choices we make, the sooner we can achieve the goals and success we set ourselves up for.

I don’t write these things to reprimand people, or to pass judgment, but to hopefully help folks look inward and realize there isn’t much we “can’t do”. It all depends on the choices we make and the situations we put ourselves in.

I am no exception to the rule, and I certainly don’t always make the right choices, but I have come to terms that things don’t happen “to” me, they happen “because” of me and the choices I make daily. Once you realize this, you can start to determine what it takes to succeed and base your choices on the outcome you want to achieve.

Committed to your success,

Coach Matt
