Professional golfers have used Scotty Cameron putters to win scores of tournaments over the years, including numerous majors. Tiger Woods used a Scotty Cameron to win all 15 of his majors, Brooks Koepka used his to win four, Jordan Spieth his three. You get the idea. The clubs have also developed a passionate fan base and collector community, with rare and limited-edition Scotty Cameron putters often sold for thousands of dollars.

Cameron and Titleist have announced the release of the new Scotty Cameron Champion’s Choice putters, a limited run of three putters, to celebrate major wins over the years.

Teryllium insert

The Champion’s Choice Newport, Newport 2 and Flowback 5.5 are all milled from 303 stainless steel with a unique, milled copper-alloy insert. The material is called Teryllium, and for years it was only available on putters made for Tour players because of its cost. Cameron made some putters with the insert available to consumers in 2019’s Teryllium T22 putter family, but it is still rare.

Cameron said the Teryllium has an exceedingly soft feel at impact, which in the Champion’s Choice putters is magnified by the addition of a vibration-dampening layer between the insert and the stainless steel body.

Button Back design

The insert is held in position by three screws in the back of the head. This design style, in Scotty Cameron parlances, is referred to as a Button Back.

The Champion’s Choice Newport and Newport 2 are classic heel-toe-weighted blades with adjustable tungsten weights in the sole that allow fitters to change a club’s swingweight easily.

The Flowback 5.5 is a midsize mallet with a 6061 aluminum sole plate and stainless steel weights on the bottom of the club. The aluminum is lighter than the steel it replaces, which shifts more of the overall weight to the head’s perimeter. That should increase stability on mis-hits and make the putter more forgiving.

Trimmed in red, white and blue, the Champion’s Choice putters come with a blue headcover and a gray pistol-style grip.
