EKU Athletics Announce Winners Of Fifth Annual Colonels’ Choice Awards

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University Bratzke Student-Athlete Academic Success Center, along with the Athletics Department, announced the winners of the fifth annual Colonels' Choice Awards last week.

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University Bratzke Student-Athlete Academic Success Center, along with the Athletics Department, announced the winners of the fifth annual Colonels' Choice Awards last week.
 
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Colonels' Choice Awards was moved to social media and extended over a two-week period.
 
Winners from the week included:
 
Athletic Director's Leadership Award
Nick Howie, baseball and Larissa Heslop, soccer
 
Coaches Academic Enhancement Award
Matt Cosinuke, soccer
 
Bratzke Academic Freshman of the Year Award
Raegan Alexander, volleyball

Bratzke Academic Team of the Year
Soccer
 
G.R.I.T. Award
Alex Leshan, track and field/cross country

Male Newcomer of the Year
Michael Moreno, men's basketball 
 
Female Newcomer of the Year
Viola Seromot, cross country
 
Play of the Year
Jacquess Hobbs, men's basketball
 
Performance of the Year
Five EKU pitchers combine for a 3-hit shutout of No. 11 LSU
 
Male Athlete of the Year
