Here is what you need to know
VICTORIA, Texas – Victoria ISD’s Choice Schools’ enrollment application period will open on Monday, Feb. 14, at 8 a.m. It will close on Tuesday, March 1, at 5 p.m. Choice Schools in Victoria ISD include Smith STEM Academy, Stroman STEM Academy, Hopkins and Shields elementary schools and Pattie Welder Middle School’s Personalized Learning campuses.
Victoria ISD’s Office of Innovation will host a VISD Finding Your “&” Choice Expo on Tuesday, Feb. 22 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. It will take place at the District Event Center, located at 1110 Sam Houston Drive. The expo, a booth-styled event, will have teachers, students and parents promoting choice options in VISD. If you and your student are interested, Victoria ISD encourages you to attend the Choice Expo. You will learn about each campus’ school model, pathways offered, the choice factor within the process for parents and the experiences for students and their families.
In addition to the Choice Schools, the event will also feature additional Victoria ISD departments including:
- VISD Head Start,
- Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH),
- Summer Programs,
- Pre-Kindergarten,
- CLI Early Education Center at F. W. Gross, and Talent, Acquisition, Support, & Retention.
All these departments will create a one-stop-shop of information for the 2022-23 school year for parents/guardians and families new to Victoria ISD.
Melissa Correll, Chief Innovation Officer at VISD, released the following statement
“In VISD we believe there are no lesser paths to a successful launch, but there are different paths. All children are unique,” said Melissa Correll, Chief Innovation Officer at VISD. “Each learns in different ways, aspires for different careers, has his/her own genius, and is interested in different subjects. Choice schools offer an option for students to explore their interests and pursue their genius.”
Victoria ISD will email result notifications for Choice School selection acceptance to parents/guardians on Thursday, March 10.
