The Steelers got a steal with their first fourth-round pick, according to a longtime NFL talent evaluator.
Pro Football Hall of Famer Gil Brandt, who was an NFL executive with the Rams, 49ers and Cowboys from 1955-88, listed his top value picks from the 2021 NFL Draft, based on where Brandt thought the players should be drafted.
Brandt listed the Steelers pick of Texas A&M tackle Dan Moore Jr. with the No. 128 pick in the fourth round as the seventh-best value pick of the entire draft, saying that Moore was taken 65 spots behind where Brandt would have taken him.
Based on my Hot 100 draft board and where players got picked, here are the picks I would consider the best value:
G Trey Smith, KC (+152)
G Deonte Brown, CAR (+131)
OT Stone Forsythe, SEA (+115)
DT Daviyon Nixon, CAR (+83)
CB Shaun Wade, BAL (+80)
LB Garret Wallow, HOU (+73)

The best value pick according to Brandt was Kansas City taking Tennessee guard Trey Smith in the sixth round, 152 slots after Brandt projected. Carolina made the top of Brandt’s board twice, with Alabama guard Deonte Brown in the sixth round getting a plus-131 rating and Iowa defensive tackle Daviyon Nixon plus 83 in the fifth round.
Seattle’s pick of Florida tackle Stone Forsythe in the sixth (+115), Baltimore nabbing Ohio State corner Shaun Wade in the fifth (+80) and Houston getting TCU linebacker Garrett Wallow in the fifth (+73) rounded out Brandt’s top five value choices.
