Families have only three days left to indicate their preference for hybrid learning at Evanston Township High School. Superintendent Eric Witherspoon announced on March 1 that ETHS would implement hybrid learning on April 15.
The announcement reads in relevant part:
“Respond by Friday, March 5 at 4:00 p.m. A parent/guardian must log into their own myETHS account to answer the questions about their hybrid selection. Navigate to Records > Hybrid Selection Form to indicate your choice. If you have more than one student at ETHS, you will need to complete a separate form for each student. After the deadline, parents/guardians will be able to view, but not change their response. If you do not respond by this date, your student(s) will be scheduled to continue their fully remote schedule, as noted in Enhanced E-learning.” (latter emphasis added)
Spring break ends on April 2, and students will continue remote learning through April 12. April 13 and 14 are set aside for mandatory State assessments, so only students taking tests in person will be in the building on those days.
Asynchronous learning will continue on Mondays, and one cohort – A, B, C, or D – will attend in-person on an assigned day of the week, beginning April 15. The cohorts will be assigned alphabetically rather than by grade level.
Only about 25% of the student body will be in the building each day Tuesday through Friday, but all students will attend their classes as usual. Teachers will have the challenge of teaching in-person and remote simultaneously – engaging students both in the classroom and at their devices.
ETHS officials asked students and families to visiting the school’s reopening plan on the ETHS website, eths.k12.il.us, to review the hybrid framework and the hybrid schedule. There is also a video to show how the inside of the building looks under the current safety guidelines.
